Big Hit Entertainment launches boy group this year as ‘I-LAND’, new girl group in 2021

Big Hit launches new groups one after another.

On the 13th, Big Hit Entertainment unveiled in their company briefing session with the community in the second half of 2020 through YouTube. It was prepared as a place to share achievements and major plans for the first half of this year.

According to the Big Hit Plan, a new boy group will debut in 2020. It is a group to be formed through the winners of Mnet’s I-LAND. A girl group will be launched in 2021 and another boy group will be launched in 2022 to solidify the Big Hit artist lineup.

Bang Si-hyuk said, “Big Hit focuses on creating good content, which is the essence of a content powerhouse. To this end, we continuously discover excellent artist IPs and develop our label portfolio. We cannot achieve results without the artist’s music and contents.”

As part of that, Pledis Entertainment joined the Big Hit label this year. The multi-label system was expanded to Big Hit, Billip Lab, Source Music, and Pledis, and the goal was also to be expanded in the future. The five groups of Big Hit Labels were active in the first half. These five teams were great. NU’EST, BTS, SEVENTEEN, GFRIEND, and TNT accounted for 40% of the album sales in the first half.
